Who Knew?

Between 1309 and 1814, the Thames froze solid on a number of occasions, so much so that a 'Frost Fair', complete with dancing, games and temporary pubs could be held on it. The water was so solid, that it was even able to support the weight of an elephant being walked across it at one such fair (don't ask us why!)
