SNOWDON
The rugged raw beauty of Snowdon, heart of the Snowdonia National Park and the ancient Welsh kingdom of Gwynedd. The highest peak in Wales and England, there's a lot of geography going on here, thanks to the mixed volcanic and sedimentary origins of its rocks, and few millennia of glaciation. The twisting ramparts, ridges, buttresses and folds of Snowdon and its surrounding ranges grip the eye and the imagination. The legends of monsters, giants and kings have given way to legendary climbers and adventurers, who delight in the mountain's challenges (and then have tea and Welsh cakes in the cafe on the summit). Nice!

Who Knew?
Legend has it that Snowdon is the final resting place of Cairn the Giant. Cairn was slain by King Arthur when Cairn tried to nab his beard and add it to his massive pile o' beards. Weird!
